Stories. Identity. Poetry. Roots.

Cantine Catena was founded in 2009 with the aim of continuing a family journey rooted in tradition and love for the land.

Limited production and the ability to monitor every stage of the winemaking process with scientific and technical expertise allow each harvest to faithfully express the character of the grapes. The decision to vinify the grapes in purity ensures the creation of authentic wines.

Terroir

Among the vineyards of San Marco and Contrada Stazione, where both new and historic grape varieties coexist, a project takes shape that blends memory and vision. The Fiano and Aglianico vineyards, resting on the hills south of Montefalcione, enjoy a precious natural balance. The altitude and temperature variations impart elegance and aromatic depth, while the clay-rich soil retains the moisture needed to consistently nourish each vine.

A story of roots, harvest after harvest.

In the vineyard, work is carried out with patience and respect, opting for low yields and carefully timed interventions. In the winery, the wine finds its own rhythm, maturing slowly until it reveals its most authentic identity. Each vintage tells a different story of the vine’s cycle, and every bottle preserves the evolution of a complex wine.

We harvest each cluster exclusively by hand, with the patience of those who wait for nature to take its course. This careful choice is made directly among the rows, where each cluster is assessed and picked only when it has reached full ripeness, minimizing interventions to the utmost.

This ancient practice allows us to protect the integrity of the fruit, bringing to the winery only the sincerity that our land offers when it is truly listened to.

Winemaking Philosophy & Identity

Listening to the land means respecting it, working exclusively with native grape varieties that have long found their ideal home here. It is a dialogue of patience and care, where the goal is not to force nature, but to let its most authentic beauty emerge.

Tasting our wines means entering this rhythm: experiencing the vibrant freshness of a hillside Fiano, Legàmi, with hints of rock and white flowers, or getting lost in the complex aromas of an Aglianico, Intrecci, which, thanks to the clay-rich soils, reaches its fullest expression in the Taurasi, Traccia, resting unhurriedly.
